Ashes Scatterings at Sea Header text

The Scattering of Ashes at Sea ceremony of a loved one is becoming increasingly more popular.

Ashes Scattering at Sea Key details

Especially for families of loved ones that have had an affiliation with the sea during their lives.

And it really does not matter whether it be vocational or just recreational. It is the ideal way to carry out their loved ones wishes of having their ashes scattered upon the ocean.

Hands forming a love heart

For your loved ones scattering of ashes at sea, we provide an ideally laid out vessel, designed to help you form your circle of remembrance with your immediate family and friends for the ceremony. This aquatic send off and release of their ashes, to continue on their journey to the end of time on the “tides of the sea”, is a truly heartfelt way to bid your loved one’s farewell.

Scattering the ashes

For this service you will be aboard Crusader 1, a large – 55 foot -, open deck vessel which allows full walk around access. Crusader 1 has been extensively refurbished in 2021 & 2022 to ensure she provides you with comfort and quality in every area, as well as space for the privacy this occasion so clearly deserves!

Ashes Scattering

With a maximum of 22 passengers, all on such a large vessel, you are assured of lots of space and room to move about. The rear of the vessel will be setup to make the actual scattering as easy and comfortable as possible, and the onboard bar will make sure that you can maybe toast your loved one farewell should you wish to do so.

Everyone at Sunshine Coast Afloat prides themselves on being extremely dedicated and responsible to our guests.  These trips are very personal.

Not only will we always provide you with an extremely safe, clean and well appointed vessel, we will, on all trips, try to ensure the vessel is setup to the best possible layout for the activity you are wanting to do. And of course we will make sure that as well as comfort you have a safe, comfortable and memorable experience.

Our highly qualified and trained crew are on board to assist in making sure every aspect of your cruise is executed with your comfort and safety the absolute focus at all times. From the moment you step aboard they will ensure you are looked after like never before.

No doubt this is why we have, for the last 9 years won the top Trip Advisor awards each year!

We can also arrange a Private or Coast Guard celebrant to provide a touching service and be of assistance to offer words of comfort and a final prayer or speech, as the ashes of your loved one are released.

Winter on the Sunshine Coast is increasingly becoming seen as the perfect time for these services as the whales that are travelling along the East Coast of Australia from Mid June to late October add a very special element to these already emotion filled services.

Some key points you can expect with Sunshine Coast Afloat on this service;

  • You will be provided with a “Remembrance Scroll” detailing the date, time and location- latitude longitude – of where your loved ones ashes were scattered, signed by the captain.
  • We will have a wide range of drinks aboard for you to choose from at prices at or below those of the average tavern! (NO BYO).  You may also check to see if  there is perhaps that special drink you would like to have aboard on this occasion.
  • 2 on deck modern marine toilets for your use.
  • Our modern marine (2000W) sound system can be controlled by you to ensure your choice of music will be gently playing in the background to make sure the mood is right.
  • You may bring aboard pictures of your loved one (a large frame with a collage is a great piece), flower petals and other items that are important in your remembrance ceremony.
  • Plenty of comfortable seating

“Special Occasion Charter of Crusader 1”
Reviewed on trip advisor on the 29th September 2016

Our family chartered the vessel Crusader 1 for a ‘spreading of ashes at sea ceremony’ for our late parents, off Caloundra. Paddy and Jerry were so helpful and thoughtful in helping arrange the day and making sure everything was as we wanted, which it was and more. The boat’s crew on the day were nothing short of fantastic and made the event a special one for us. After a great lunch on board, we cruised back to Mooloolaba, with some unexpected whale watching on the way, a real bonus, capping off a very memorable day.. thanks everyone. Highly recommended.
