Kayaking is rapidly becoming one of the most popular ways for anyone to get some quiet time out on the water in a healthy manner.
Even better, no experience is needed to enjoy yourself when hiring a kayak!
Get out and enjoy the sunshine at your own pace on your 60 minute kayaking adventure. There are many different kayaking routes you can take exploring the Mooloolaba waterways. Take in the mansions on Mooloolah Island, stop off an outrigger island and beach, or head down towards The Wharf to take a sneak look at what’s going on.
Adventure further down to see all the yachts at the Mooloolaba Marina or drop into the fisheries for some fresh seafood or you may wish to head up into the more secluded locations and truly experience the natural beauty and wildlife in a relaxed quiet setting. The choice is yours!
Our experienced kayak instructor will give you an overview before you paddle off on your own kayak adventure.
Most of our kayaks are shorter that most hire kayaks yet still incredibly stable! This means they are easier to paddle and much much easier to steer! That important when you are in the estuary areas between mangroves exploring! We use lightweight oars to avoid snagging on shallow areas or underwater obstructions. All so you can explore to your heart’s content without struggling!

Not only will we always provide you with an extremely safe, clean and well appointed vessel, we will, on all trips, try to limit vessel capacity to to the best suited numbers to ensure that you have a safe, comfortable and memorable experience.
Our highly qualified and trained crew are on board to assist in making sure every aspect of your cruise is executed with your enjoyment and safety the absolute focus at all times. From the moment you step aboard they will ensure you have nothing more to do than to sit back enjoy yourself.

Some key points you can expect with Sunshine Coast Afloat on this tour;
- Our kayaks are rated to 120 kg by the manufacturer but a more comfortable figure is 110 kg.
- Our kayaks are extremely stable and easy to operate.
- Our kayaks will suit most paddlers up to 1.95 cm in height.
- We recommend you bring a bottle of water and maybe some light snacks to enjoy on your paddle.
- We recommend you bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses to ensure you can fully enjoy your paddle.
- You will be provided with a kayak lifejacket to ensure you are safe during your tour.
- You will be provided with a map of the main canals to assist you with your exploring.
- Due to legal reasons we cannot hire kayaks to persons under the age of 18 years unless accompanied by an adult.

The “BRIDGE SEAFOOD ” Pontoon (located at the rear of the restaurant),
209 Brisbane Road Mooloolaba Qld.
For a GPS use “Bridge Seafoods” or “209 Brisbane Road Mooloolaba Qld”. In iPhone Maps “Bridge Seafoods” is far more accurate.
Please DO NOT park your car here on the service Road, but rather in the FREE public car-park next to the BP service station across the road.
The location is the corner of Incana Court and Brisbane Road. This parking is free and unlimited in time, and only a 2 minute stroll (100m) from the departure point.
Once parked please wait near the top of the ramp until instructed by the skipper that it is safe to come down the ramp and board the vessel.

|DEPARTURE AND RETURN TIMES||Any time between 7AM and 9PM – with 30 mins notice.|
|DEPARTURE NOTE||Please arrive 30 minutes prior for a prompt departure.Please ensure you have checked in via the Covid Safe link sent with your confirmation or with the QR code at the departure location. We cannot depart until EVERYONE has properly checked in.|
|WHAT TO WEAR & BRING||Comfortable clothing that can get wet, shoes or thongs are fine.
BYO DRINKS are fine on our kayaks but we prefer non-alcoholic to ensure you remain safe at all times!
You are welcome to bring snacks or food with you.
Please note that kayaking is a NON-SMOKING activity as it is impossible to safely dispose of butts whilst on the kayaks.
There really isn’t a time that kayaking isn’t a fantastic activity! We can strongly recommend a warm sunny day obviously, but summer evenings as the sun sets and the lights come on along the river and canals is truly magical to see from the water! And of course in December the Christmas lights are up on the waterfront homes. Kayaking along at that time is simply wonderful! And you get to see the lights at your pace!
